Soon, I will shout these words once again on the stage of La Monnaie in Brussels, as we bring the epic conclusion of Wagner’s Ring of the Nibelung to life. I’m proud to be preparing for my eighth Wagnerian role, this time as Wellgunde in Götterdämmerung. With every new phrase, I’m reminded of how deeply I cherish and want to understand this magnificent repertoire even more.
A fun fact: this will be my third time performing the entire Nibelung cycle, following productions at NTM Mannheim and the Daegu Opera Festival. I feel humbled and grateful as I dive into learning these intricate motifs once more. Weiala La La La!
